  Why the field service reports?

  some years ago, we had this difficult bible study with a guy who was unofficially a witness for about 40 years, yet he would never make the step of becoming an unbaptized publisher.

  we pushed him at some point to tell us the reason, and the reason was this: he didn't agree with the field reports practice.

  he said he did a lot of preaching by himself but didn't see any reason to report it to the congregation.. of course, we told him that the reason we hand in field reports is so that we have statistics, and know how much work is done worldwide and bla-bla-blah.

  how many from germany , italy , zambia , etc.

  etc.. do two or three "countries " seem to dominate the threads ?

  ok i've read similar threads to this before, but i just thought i would share a comment made by an aunt.

  my aunts bible student died, and due to the families wishes the funeral service was given in another church.

  my aunt with a disgusted look on her face when recalling the events to me said "and you know what, they must of only spent about 5 minutes talking about the person, and the rest of it was about the church".

  Shortly before I was "recruited" my grandfather had died on xmas eve. The funeral was held between xmas and New Year and we sang xmas carols. That was weird for a start.

  The vicar spent 5 minutes telling us how my grandad was at peace with god up in heaven and then spent the next half hour telling us all the things we would have to do to get there ourselves. Knowing my grandad did none of what we were supposedly required to do but with plenty of reassurance that he was safely up there got me thinking. The sister I was studying with had a field day when I told her.

  Do you google about someone before you date him or her?

  Date ? What is this strange word you speak of? Lol

  I left the dating game years ago but I Google all new potential hedgehog owners. Sometimes when sending an email to them the first time I get their facebook page come up and I go and look at that too. So far I haven't discovered anything bad but if I did they would not be getting a hedgehog from me.

  everyone knows about the recent across-the-board okay to use electronic devices in jw worship.

  few, though, know about how not long ago it was considered a taboo.. first, there was that dc talk a couple of years back where they nearly demonized simply the ownership of a smart phone, ipads (i phones, blackberries, etc) let alone the use of them at meetings.

  they brought out that they were a waste of time, expensive and that they exposed a christian to satan's world on the internet.

  I was told not to read my Bible from my computer because I wouldn't get holy spirit unless it was "The Book" version

  As a lowly single mum with depression I didn't think I qualified for it in the first place.

  The only reason I would be interested in a CO being d'fd is if he woke up and then I could be happy.

  The name is not so important unless he starts posting here so we could welcome him but a pseudonym is still fine.

  Personally I don't need further proof holy spirit doesn't exist (can be fooled if you still believe in it) but I imagine it is a very important "proof" to those trying to wake up a loved one especially if he is a prominent and well known CO.
